Aim(s)
To introduce members of staff to practical strategies for dealing with students who are in distress.
To raise awareness of the support services the University can offer students in this situation.
To highlight the support mechanisms that the University provides for members of staff who deal with students in crisis.

Learning Outcomes
Identify how to best support and communicate with students who are in distress.
Discuss how to help students engage with services on-campus and, out of hours, off-campus.
Identify how and where to discuss their own anxieties after being involved in difficult situations with students.

Who should attend
This session is aimed at personal and senior tutors, however, it may be useful for any member of staff who teach or support students
