AliAli Brumhead is a Learning Gain Project Administrator in The Lincoln Higher Education Research Institute
The Learning Gain Project is one of 12 projects funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Its purpose is to pilot various mechanisms, including student self-assessment and situational judgement tests, in order to determine which methods are best suited to track the development in a student’s ‘learning gain’ during their three years of undergraduate study. HEFCE defines Learning Gain as the ‘distance travelled’ by students during their studies, demonstrable by an improvement in knowledge, skills, work-readiness and personal development between two points in time.

The project is informed by the 2015 Rand Report on Learning Gain in Higher Education
